PROGRAMME BRIEFING · WICKHAMWickham

A new route.Know the details.

A Drummondville family considering Gold Card during a corporate change should identify the actual applicant and payer arrangement. The official gift-based framework connects to EB-1 or EB-2 permanent residence and remains subject to applicable requirements, vetting, admissibility and visa availability. A company change does not establish an immigration outcome. A useful Gold Card official-program review review begins with a fact matrix rather than a preferred answer. List the person, employer or enterprise, authority, place of activity, dates, money or compensation, and the record supporting each item. The first pass should identify the legal question that each record can actually settle, then flag gaps that require an original, a translation, or a clearer explanation. Gold Card is an official-program framework in which the applicant makes the required payment to the U.S. government; it is not a conventional visa. The payment, vetting, underlying immigration requirements, and current instructions must be checked independently. The key decision is whether the current arrangement fits this route as it now exists, not whether a future version might become stronger. Keep a chronology that distinguishes completed steps from planned steps, and revisit it before travel, a filing, payment, or a change in duties. This method also prevents a polished business narrative from hiding an unsupported element.

IN THIS GUIDE · Review the family proposal while corporate arrangements change

01

Define the current and proposed payer

Hypothetical example: a family compares an individual proposal with corporate support while ownership negotiations continue. Identify what is settled and what remains proposed. Do not assume individual and corporate obligations are interchangeable because the applicant owns part of the business. Trace the order of events: record the original plan, the decision-maker, and the date on which an obligation became binding. That sequence often exposes whether a later explanation describes a fact or an aspiration.

02

Confirm current official terms

Use the official FAQ and instructions for the actual framework and family treatment. Identify discrepancies from older summaries and unresolved obligations before commitments. A corporate agreement explains business facts but does not replace official program requirements. Re-verify the official terms before any money moves. Test labels against evidence. Job titles, corporate descriptions, and sales language are useful starting points, but the underlying duties, authority, and transaction records resolve the legal question.

03

Separate gift obligations from enterprise capital

Gold Card should not be described as an EB-5 investment or recoverable commercial asset. EB-5 has its own capital and job requirements. Compare the actual financial obligations without implying that a gift buys company ownership or guarantees repayment. Use originals that can be dated and connected to a person or entity. A chronology should identify gaps, translations, and documents that contradict the preferred narrative before anything is submitted.

04

Review individuals and present permission

Assess classification, vetting, admissibility and visa availability alongside the family’s circumstances. A proposed payer or intended gift is not approval. Current status governs U.S. activity while any future residence process remains unresolved. Separate a future forecast from current proof. A business plan, anticipated hire, or intended assignment may matter, yet it cannot silently become evidence that the fact already exists.

05

Follow the official payment sequence and individual amounts

The Gold Card is not a conventional visa category. Current official terms describe a nonrefundable US$15,000 processing fee per person, followed by vetting and a gift to the U.S. government after successful vetting and official instructions. The principal gift is US$1,000,000 individually or US$2,000,000 corporately. Each eligible joining spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$15,000 and a US$1,000,000 gift, including corporate cases. Corporate terms also describe 1% annual maintenance and a 5% transfer charge with a new background check; replacement approval is not automatic. EB-1 or EB-2 eligibility, admissibility and visa availability remain separate requirements. The gift is not an EB-5 investment, and every term must be re-verified from the official page before any money moves. Finish with a decision record stating what is established, what remains conditional, and what must happen before the next immigration step. That record prevents a commercial deadline from dictating an unsupported filing position.
